January 2013 subcompact sales

Subcompact Sales
January of 2013 is in the books, and the Mazda2, although not the biggest seller of the month, did have the biggest January '13 vs. January '12 jump in sales. Also fast out of the gate is the Fiat 500 and Chevrolet Sonic. The overall sales winner, however, was the Nissan Versa, which has sold very well since it was originally introduced several years ago.

The biggest loser this month was the MINI Coupe, which sold just 97 units, and was down 33.6% compared to this time last year.

For 2013, keep an eye on the Kia Soul, which had huge sales in 2012. Also keep an eye on the Nissan Versa to see if it can stay on the Soul's heels. Also, for a bit more variety, we've added the Mazda MX-5 Miata. While not a new vehicle, per se, it does represent another very small convertible vehicle.
