The nice thing about using this as your carry-on item is that you don't
have to worry about going to the baggage claim and having your suitcase
open up and having your underwear, toiletries, and EcoBoost 1.0-liter
engine all over the carrousel if your bag ripped open. That's SO
embarrassing.
Your eyes don't deceive you, and yes, it's a real story. Ford carried on a 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine through security at an airport. It is that small, and TSA has no issues with it. This was shot at LAX airport, by the way. as Ford prepares to show it at the 2012 LA Autoshow.
It's likely the 1.0 EcoBoost will find its way into the next-generation Fiesta, which will be a 2014 model. Currently, the only new three-cylinder automobile in the U.S. is the Smart ForTwo, but there are rumors of the 2013 (2014?) Mitsubishi Mirage's 1.2-liter three-cylinder mill heading to the USDM, too.

So cool! I'm really glad we're starting to see smaller engines in the US. Europe has lots of cars with 900-1200cc engines but we've hardly seen any here under 1500. I'm hoping these cars do well and the US starts to understand these are viable options.
