Announced at the Tokyo Auto Show today, the Honda CR-Z hybrid, essentially a 21st century Honda CR-X, will be available in the U.S. with a six-speed manual. The car will launch in February in Japan, and should arrive in the U.S. next fall.
From some of the photos I saw on Autoblog, it looks like the CR-Z will not be too terribly bloated compared to the diminutive original CR-X—a good thing.
Will this be the first sporty, affordable hybrid?

Well, "affordable" is a relative term. However, I'm guessing the majority of people don't associate $109,000 as affordable for an automobile.
I wonder if the 6-speed will find its' way into the Insight as well.
I think it’s fantastic news! I hope that they do keep the sporty feel in the car and with Honda’s reputation and them announcing the 6-speed manual goes a long way. I’m looking forward to this hitting the US shores and I agree that this could be the first affordable hybrid sports car. the Tesla is not affordable in any argument…
