Scion iQ convertible?

Scion iQ Convertible

As you probably know, the Toyota iQ microcar is headed to the U.S. as a Scion. Now, Motor Trend has found this rendering in a Japanese car magazine. It looks to be an artist's interpretation of what the iQ convertible might look like. There has been talk of other vehicles based on the iQ's platform, so this might not be too far off. I'm sure the ginormous wheels and aggressive body panels would get lost (might get lost?), but it looks pretty cool to me.

If the iQ did come as a convertible and had decent styling I would love to buy it as a commuter car. It would be fun to go back and forth to work in and get great gas mileage.

If this car looked like this I would get one and then work for Scion sending them out the door ....
Just one time I would like a car just like they show it.. YOU CAN DO IT...

I won't have any interest in the iQ til we see a manual transmission.

It seems to be a growing trend that the smaller, more economical cars are losing their ties with a standard transmission.

That used to be a bonus with subcompacts, you could always count on there being a manual option. :(

Like Tony said, I would like a manual as well. Wouldn't mind the smaller engine either,as gas is going up AGAIN. any more talk of a convertible model.......only way I'd buy it. Can't find ANYTHING on the web but this photo for a possible convertible.

There are (were?) rumors of an iQ RS model coming out with a manual. I'd buy one if I could row my own gears.

I haven't heard anything about a convertible version since posting this, either.
