Toyota iQ: Bound for the U.S. at 54 mpg (?)

Toyota iQ - Subcompact Culture
The headline on Automotive News' Web page says, "Toyota: U.S. likely to get 54-mpg premium subcompact." This is in reference to Toyota's Smart-fighting Toyota iQ. The three-seat iQ will apparently get 54 miles per gallon–that's 10 more MPG than the Smart ForTwo, and six more than Toyota's own Prius in the city.

Of course, the key word in this whole thing is "likely," so we'll see if Toyota really does throw its hat into the very small ring of micro cars in the U.S. Keep in mind there is speculation that the iQ could show up under the Scion brand, too!
