My friend Scott's 1996 Honda Civic CX hatchback rolled 200,000 miles yesterday. His trusty hatch has been continually maintained, and will likely go another 200,000 without too much hassle. There's something to be said about crossing certain mileage thresholds, especially when you're the vehicle's original owner.
The highest mileage car I've owned is actually my 1995 Suzuki Sidekick, which has 143,000+ miles on it. Granted, I've only put on 3,000 of them. My 1992 Mitsubishi Expo LRV racked up 118,000 miles before being traded in. Our 1998 Civic Sedan also had around 112,000 miles, if I remember correctly..
With regular maintenance, most modern vehicles should easily reach 200K and higher on the original engine. Which leads me to a question:
What's the highest mileage car you've owned?

My Subaru is currently sitting at a shade under 252,000 miles.
My current car, a hideous, uncomfortable '99 Civic DX with 220,000 miles. It gets about 30 mpg and just won't quit. It's fun to drive too.
My 1994 Toyota Corolla wagon is currently at 412,634 miles. I used to work as a courier putting on about 50k on it per year. The engine, transmission and clutch are all still original. It has been through 3 alternators, 3 starters, 2 blower fans and a whole bunch of tires.
Holy smokes--400,000+ miles on the original clutch? Is it mostly highway miles?
My friend's Sprinter Trueno had 200,000 miles also. It still is alive and kicking though and can still join some events.
My 99 SVT Contour hit 146k when it met its demise at the hands of a Ford Ranger.
My current ride, an 01 Focus, is sitting pretty at ~120k.
The GMC sanoma delivery truck I used at a parts store for my first job had recently passed over 500,000 when I left the job. It was a 5 speed, it managed to be fun, and it worked hard its whole life. Cool blog by the way, I've been reading for a while.
I have 162,000 miles on an 06 Kia Sedona, and it's still going strong. Can't seem to get anything to go wrong with it. Spent about $300 in the last 30k miles.
I had a 2000 Nissan Sentra SE that had 155,000 trouble free miles when I sold it. Put all of them in myself. The car could have easily gone at least another 300,000 miles, but then it was totaled by a wreckless driver. It had about 180,000 at the time.
my 1988 ford festiva lx that i sold last year had 456,000 miles on it & still got around 42mpg!
1990 Ford Festiva bought new has 301,000 miles on it. My 1998 Dodge Dakota has 211,000 and has the original clutch
1993 Ford Festiva has 280,000 miles on it and still going strong achieving 42-44mpg with mixed city and highway driving.
Wow a few Festiva folks comin' out of the woodwork. I still would love a Festiva with a BP swap.
My 93 Festiva had around 182,000 on it when I decided I wanted MPH more than MPG. Performed a B6T/G5MR swap and ran put 13-14,000 miles on that in a year or so. Then went to a BP-T this year and put around 14,000 miles on it since May.
Here it is a couple weeks ago when I broke into 12's

It still gets 30-35 mpg daily driving with the BP-T setup. I miss the 47 I averaged in stock form though!
Oh I also have a 97 Outback Sport I picked up recently with 232,000 miles. Its a rusty beater but runs great.
I've got 225 000+ on my 93 BPT Festiva
sc72
My Festiva has 246,000 and keeps making the rounds in the family, if some one in the family needs a spare car they ask for this one, it's good looking easy to drive and gets great MPG's and cheep to maintain.
my 1990 for festiva has 420,000 kms on it... after making it more of a race car than a street car i bought a 1990 GMC tracker, it has just under 390,000 kms on it... 2 of my friends have for festivas and they have 520,000 kms and 430,000 kms on them... festivas last forever, and if they do break, just swap out the part for a higher performance part :)
My 1990 Ford Festiva rolled over 500,000KM a couple months ago on the original engine and transmission. That's 300,000 miles approximately.
My 1991 Ford Festiva GL just rolled 431,000 miles on the odometer. My 1991 L has 172,000 miles on it, and 1993 GL has 234,000 miles on it.
I have a 90 festiva with 313,000 miles on it and it gets 48 MPG when I drive back and forth to work (+2000 ft elevation gain).
1991 Ford Festiva, 265k miles, 42mpg
1996 Jeep Cherokee 232k miles
1990 ford festiva lx with 422,000 kms on it. Ran strong with stock clutch and transmission until I wrote it off last week :-(
1992 Festiva... 333,500 miles and counting. 170+ miles per day!
Have a 1991 Toyota Previa minivan with 205,000 miles on it.
Let's hear it for the humble little Festiva!
1991 Festiva with 332,000 miles. Original clutch and no work has been done to the engine.
