Thomas in Thailand sent photos of Honda's latest offering in that country, the Brio.
According to Thomas, the Brio has a 1.2-liter engine making 90hp. "[It's] quite a bit cheaper than a Fit/Yaris; just looks rather odd," he said.
I'll concur on the looks. The rear bumper looks a bit frumpy. Overall, not the worst looking car in the world, IMHO.
Thanks, as usual, to Thomas for the pics from Thailand!

The rear window kind of reminds me of the '84 through '87 2-door Civic hatches.
I'm betting this car gets nice fuel efficiency with the 1.2L engine. Why in the hell can't they offer something like this in America?

"1.2L engine"
Answered your own question right there. Might work in the midwest, but anywhere with traffic a 1.2l will get rolled over by the v8 SUVs cuz it can't get out of the way.
Geo Metro had a 1.0 liter engine as did the Chevy Sprint. So long as the output is OK, 1.2 liters shouldn't be an issue.
The car is pretty neat. This car is expected to be released this year and I can't wait to see it on the streets and drive it myself.

Because a V8 is a requirement for stop and go traffic? You couldn't be any more wrong. A V8 in a street car is good for two things: towing, and straight line acceleration. Basically, entering the freeway and overtaking. Yeah, the 1.2 might struggle making it up to speed but once it gets there it will do fine. I blow by V8 powered vehicles every day in my 1.5. A big city is where this thing would excel. Most cities are so congested, you'd never top 45mph anyway. Unless you're drag racing between stoplights, your point is moot. I'd me more afraid of running this thing on two lane highways in the midwest than commuting in it in any big city.
The real reason it won't come to America is because it would never sell. We aren't fighting decade long wars in the Mid East for the privilege of driving tin cans at home. The kind of people that gravitate towards a blog like this are the exception to the rule but generally speaking, Americans love huge vehicles with huge engines.
Still...90hp out of a 1.2? Call me impressed.
