I dropped off my '07 Yaris at the dealership today. I've had some clutch chatter in first gear when it's cold, and in reverse all the time; something other Yarisworld owners have also had. Let's hope the dealership has a fix, or that it's not a major issue.
My 2005 Scion xB also had some clutch issues, although they were totally different (slipping clutch, throw-out bearing). FYI, I have owned seven cars with manual transmissions, and never had any problems, sans my xB and Yaris. Let's hope it's just coincidence!

Sorry to hear about your clutch problem. I assume the car is still under warranty? I hope so. On the same subject, buying a car with a warranty that lasts the duration of the payment schedule is a must for me. I won't go back to the days when I had to cover a car payment, expensive repairs, towing fees and rental fees. That almost destroyed my finances a few times.
Now, it's 60,000 miles/five years or no deal. Good luck with your Yaris.
Well, it looks like they're going to put in a whole new clutch and flywheel. And yes, it will be under warranty.
