Aveo, Smart on Jalopnik's "Worst10" list

Automotive blog Jalopnik put together its "Worst10 Cars of the Decade" list. The list was composed of many Chrysler products (Jeep Compass, Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Caliber, Chrysler PT Cruiser), the 2005+ Ford Focus, the Pontiac Grand Prix, Kia Amanti, and Hummer H2. Two subcompacts also made the list—the Chevrolet Aveo and the Smart ForTwo. Unsurprisingly, the Aveo was panned for quality; the ForTwo for price and fuel economy.

Compass; I actually like the looks of this one in that there's quite a bit of AMC DNA between the Paceresque front light arrangement and the Gremlin window line. Wouldn't buy one though.

Sebring; This exists. Still, apparently.

Focus; Not really ruined until the '08 model (spring '07) when they killed the hatchbacks and wagon and larded the remaining sedan with junky plastic chrome. If you read the UK press from the C1's launch, in some ways the '05 US facelift was better.

Aveo; Test drove one, it wasn't bad, but a coworker owned a Daewoo and lost a fortune on that POS....

Smart; I've said it before, I'll say it again; it's the new Nash Metropolitan. Not a sports car, not an all-purpose car, but whatever's left.

Amanti; I'm divided between "Want a Buick? Buy a Buick, then" and "it's soooo ugly- I just HAVE to have one!"

Bonneville; a friend of mine who does intercity messenger work swears by *all* 3800-engined GM sedans. And it's a shame that Jalopnik apparently couldn't get a pic of an early, cladding-festooned version if that's what it's on the list for.

Caliber; Really? Worse than the Neon? Really? And more cramped, even though it's a hatchback, really? ("This has been 'Really!?" with Seth and Amy")

PT; Agree, good car left on the shelf for too long.

H2; All fashion ends in excess, they say. When this came out I knew it would be the '59 Caddy of SUVs.

Where's the Aztek? Or was it a '99 launch?

What's funny, is I have a friend with an Aztek, and he loves it. It's ugly, but I wouldn't say it's a bad car.

I agree with everything on their list but the Smart car and the Focus. The Cobalt is far worse than any Focus.

The Amanti is actually a very nice vehicle, just not sporty or attractive in the least.

Yes, the Caliber is far worse than the Neon. Believe it or not the Neon had a better interior.... Shocking, I know.
