Yes, doom and gloom, doom and gloom--terrible auto sales across the board. However, how did some of the automakers' subcompact cars fare?
Honda's new Fit was down 8.4% compared to this time last year. The Fit was the car least affected by the slump (sans the Honda Pilot, which actually sold better than last November).Toyota's Yaris was down 16.6%, which fared better than other Toyota models. Overall Yaris sales are still up 23% from 2007. Scion's xD sales were down 27.5% from this time last year. Overall xD sales are not representative since the vehicle came out mid-year 2008Hyundai's Accent was down 11.4%, although the car is still 42.5% from last year's total sales.MINI's sales figures were actually up 43.1% for November. Well played.Nissan's Versa was down 18.4%. Year to date figures were not available at this timeChevrolet's Korean-made Aveo was down quite a bit: 39.4% from a year ago, with year-to-date sales down 12.5%.At this time, Kia (and their Rio) and Suzuki (and their SX4) have not yet reported their November 2008 sales figures.LINKSHonda November Sales FiguresToyota November Sales FiguresHyundai Novembmer Sales FiguresMINI (BMW) November Sales FiguresNissan November Sales FiguresGM November Sales Figures

Aw! I'm so sad! I really do feel bad for the car companies. I hope they make it through this.
But mostly I hope this means that I'll be able to get a Fit at a decent price by next year. Tehe.
