I personally like the center dash and extra glove boxes in my 2010 Yaris but I understand why most people think it would be weird. I'm glad Toyota is using the 1NZ-FE engine again. They seem to be super reliable.

I'm disappointed to see the extra gloveboxes go, I use them constantly.

Dirty little secret of the spec sheet - all bar the base 3-door and the SE are auto-only. I'm a bit surprised to see the 3-door at all but I suppose it allows them to offer a base model that stands out from everyone else's base 4-door sedan (is the sedan gone forever or just until later in the year? Does anybody care?)

I'm surprised they didn't start by stretching an iQ to the old Yaris' length for Fit-beating space utilization.

Well, the engine still manages to get good fuel economy and performance, so I'd agree: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. No need to invest money in it if it's doing the job.

The previous Yaris was available for five model years. It changed right along with the Kia Rio, Hyundai Accent (both debuted in 2007, redesigned for 2012).

Ah, I admit I liked the bubble look of the Yaris and I'm sad to see that go. But the new design isn't bad.

It's curious to me they didn't bother to put a new engine in there. I guess if it's not broken, don't fix it.... just seems like they could have improved the engine in those 10 years, ya know?

Glad to see Toyota finally updating this model. Am I the only one who finds it odd that Toyota waited so long to update this model? Do they care that little about the Yaris or are they just in general slow to update? (I mean, Ford, GM, Honda, Kia, Nissan, etc, already have new models..)
