Ford announces Fiesta ST pricing

The upcoming hot hatch from Ford, the Fiesta ST, will set buyers back $22,195 USD, which includes the $795 destination fee. For that, buyers get a 1.6-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine making 197 horsepower and 214 ft./lbs. or torque. It will also get an estimated 34 MPG on the highway—that's pretty impressive.

We noticed Autoblog.com has a poll on their site asking whether or not the car makes sense at this price, and whether you'd go with a Fiesta ST or a Focus ST, which starts at $24,495 with destination. It's bigger, but also has 252 horsepower and 270 ft./lbs. or twist.

 We really like the Fiesta ST, and look forward to some time behind the wheel of one.

    Why does the Fiesta ST cost more than the Focus ST?

    Pretty neat! I wonder if Quaife will make a viscous or mechanical slip for this. Chances are that it's going to need it.

    I wonder how Chevy will respond with the Sonic, Toyota with the Yaris, Honda with the Fit, Nissan with the Versa, Hyundai with the Accent, Kia with the Rio, & Mazda with the 2. Our grass is finally getting greener. :D

    @Tony: The base prices above show the Fiesta's $2300 cheaper.

    A Fiesta ST can be optioned up to $25,955 with factory items only - the part-leather heated Recaros are $2000 (this includes heated mirrors too), a sunroof is $795, dark wheel finish adds $395 and green or orange are $595 extra. A similarly optioned Focus ST runs $28,370 while a really loaded one will set you back $30,420.

    Also, I wonder how the GM 1.4T that moves the Cruze acceptably and makes the Sonic at least a "warm hatch" would do in a Spark?
